SADO’ by Carlotta Gherzi

I spent this fine & sunny (as above 🙂 day meeting up with London’s hottest new designer – Carlotta Gherzi of SADO’

THE HISTORY: Rising talent and London-based Fashion Designer Carlotta Gherzi earned her stripes after completing a bachelor degree in Fashion Design & Fashion Marketing at the American University in London. After testing her designs at London’s Alternative Fashion Week in 2001, she discovered there was a market for her designs and her Russian heritage has seen her profile lift substantially in the growing Russian market.

“Anyone can get dolled-up and glamorous, but it’s how people dress on their off days that is most inspiring” Gherzi
THE LOOK: SADO’ creates its collections in the finest materials from silk, wool, cashmere and suede. Carlotta holds her own – saying her inspirations may change from season to season but the result remains modern, edgy and elegant. Shapes are kept modern and clean in muted shades with the odd bright, bold colour. A body-con coat constructed from thick, woven sheer stripes shows the importance of texture for the label.
Q. What are your tips for remaining stylish during the cold winter?
CG. Mixing lighter and heavier weights of wools making the layering not only comfortable but stylish.
Q. What are your must have essentials in this period of recession?
CG. Good new winter coat is always essential, budget allowing a bag could be included
Q. Is it better to be stylish or fashionable? What’s the difference?
CG. Stylish is better. Fashionable is transitory stylish is a permanent quality
‘S&TC’ SAYS: Carlotta has managed to design a collection that is both on trend as well as economically feasible – underlying the current demand for time proof, classic investment pieces that are well-cut and constructed but still sexy and chic. The slouchy high-waisted trousers teamed with fresh but bold giant knits are exactly what the ultra stylish would wear on an ‘off day”.
